Investigation Continues in Police Trainee's Death

Massachusetts State Police recruit Enrique Delgado-Garcia, 25, died after a defensive tactics training exercise at the State Police Academy in New Braintree. Due to his prior employment with the Worcester County District Attorney's office, DA Joseph Early Jr. has recused his office from the investigation to avoid a conflict of interest. Delgado-Garcia's injuries included severe brain trauma, a broken neck, and broken teeth, leading his family to demand a thorough investigation. The autopsy has been completed but results are pending. The case will be handed over to an external agency for an unbiased investigation. Governor Maura Healey called the loss 'devastating,' and Delgado-Garcia was posthumously sworn in as a trooper.
