Car Drives Into Maryland Birthday Tent; 11 Hospitalized

Shortly after 10:13–10:15 p.m. Saturday, a vehicle drove into a tent at a child’s birthday party outside a home in Bladensburg, Maryland, striking a crowd and sending 11 people to area hospitals. Among the hospitalized were an infant and seven children ages 2–9; officials said the infant and a young girl were in critical condition while others suffered serious but not life‑threatening injuries. Witnesses and police said the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot; authorities have not identified or arrested a suspect. Investigators are probing why the vehicle left Annapolis Road and entered the yard, with Bladensburg Police leading the investigation aided by Prince George’s County. Sections of Annapolis Road were closed while the scene was processed, and victims were taken to hospitals including Children’s National, Capital/UM Regional centers and Howard University Hospital.
