Berkeley Police Shoot Armed Man During Domestic Violence Response

On Sunday morning, Berkeley police officers shot a man who exited an apartment armed with a firearm while responding to a domestic violence incident. Reports indicated that a woman was heard screaming for help at the residence on University Avenue around 6:50 a.m. Upon arrival, the suspect threatened to shoot officers and engaged in negotiations before re-emerging with the weapon, leading to the officer-involved shooting. The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition, while the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave as per departmental protocol. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is also investigating the incident. Authorities have not released details about the suspect or any possible victims inside the apartment.
