Steelers Add Luke Smith as Quality Control Coach

The Pittsburgh Steelers have hired Luke Smith as their new quality control coach, marking an expansion of their coaching staff, which is one of the smallest in the NFL. Smith comes from Duquesne University, where he served for eight seasons as a defensive assistant and then as the wide receivers coach. He has local ties to Pittsburgh, being the nephew of long-time Steelers special teams coordinator Danny Smith. While the team's president, Art Rooney II, previously stated that the small coaching staff is not a hindrance to the team's success, the addition of Smith aims to enhance game preparation and practice planning. The Steelers also made minor adjustments in their coaching staff, hiring new coaches for inside linebackers and defensive backs. Smith's role is critical in supporting the team’s structure behind the scenes, despite not being the major overhaul some fans anticipated.
