Nintendo Switch 2 Offers Free Upgrades for Pokémon Titles, Others

Nintendo has officially announced that select games, including Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, will receive free upgrades to improve performance on the upcoming Switch 2 console, set to launch on June 5 for $450. These updates aim to enhance playability by addressing issues like frame rate and graphical fidelity, particularly for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which faced criticism upon release. The Switch 2 will also feature new titles, including Mario Kart World and Kirby Air Riders, alongside backward compatibility for existing games. Additionally, players can expect upgraded versions of some titles, known as Switch 2 Editions, although these will not be free for those who already own the original games. These enhancements are part of Nintendo's strategy to ensure a smoother gaming experience and expand the console's library at launch. Other confirmed games for free upgrades include The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and various first-party titles.
