Ethiopian Runners Barega, Eisa Win Great Manchester Run 2025

Ethiopian athletes Selemon Barega and Medina Eisa won the men's and women's 10km races at the 2025 Great Manchester Run, with Barega finishing in 27:49 and Eisa in 30:42. Barega, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic 10,000m champion, secured victory after a strong final sprint against competitors including Uruguay’s Santiago Catrofe and Kenya’s Vincent Ngetich. Eisa, a rising star and world under-20 5000m champion, dominated the women's race, finishing comfortably ahead of American Emily Sisson and fellow Ethiopian Gotytom Gebreslase. The race conditions included a headwind that impacted times but did not hinder the performances of the winners. Over 30,000 runners participated in various events, with notable appearances by Olympic 800m champions who fired the starting gun. British athletes also featured prominently, with several finishing in the top 10 in both men's and women's races.
