Grab Partners with Tech Firms to Explore Autonomous Vehicles in Southeast Asia

Grab has signed Memoranda of Understanding with four autonomous technology firms—Autonomous A2Z, Motional, WeRide, and Zelos—to explore the integration of autonomous vehicles (AVs) in Southeast Asia, focusing on safety, commercial viability, and job creation. The collaboration aims to assess various AV technologies, including shuttles, cars, and delivery bots, while ensuring that the role of human drivers and delivery partners is preserved. Grab's CEO, Anthony Tan, emphasized the need to understand how AVs can enhance the transportation ecosystem without sidelining the workforce.
