Aznan Abdul Aziz Named Deputy Governor of BNM Effective April 2025

Bank Negara Malaysia has announced the appointment of Aznan Abdul Aziz as the new deputy governor for a three-year term starting April 1, 2025. Aznan will oversee the supervision and regulation sector, and will be a member of the bank's board and monetary policy committee, while continuing his involvement in various other key committees. Additionally, following her retirement, Jessica Chew Cheng Lian will serve as a technical adviser on financial stability matters, recognized for her three decades of service at the bank. The central bank also appointed Cindy Siah Hooi Hoon as assistant governor, who will be responsible for supervising financial conglomerates, banking, insurance, and technology services. Both appointments reflect Bank Negara's commitment to maintaining a robust financial oversight structure amid changing economic conditions. Aznan holds a degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol and has significant experience in various financial regulatory roles.
