Marvel Zombies Debut as First TV-MA Animated Series on Disney Plus

Marvel Studios is launching "Marvel Zombies," its first TV-MA rated animated series, which expands on the zombie-themed storyline introduced in the "What If...?" series. The show follows a new generation of Marvel heroes, including Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, as they battle an ever-spreading zombie plague in a mature, horror-infused narrative. Executive Producer Brad Winderbaum explained that the project was initially planned as a feature film, but rights issues related to Spider-Man necessitated breaking the story into four chapters for the series format. The series features voice performances from well-known Marvel actors such as Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, and Florence Pugh, who enjoyed the creative freedom allowed by the TV-MA rating. Director Bryan Andrews highlighted the opportunity to explore darker and more intense character portrayals beyond the constraints of PG-13 films.
