Pittsburgh Man Faces 200 Felony Identity Theft Charges Across Five Counties

News summary

Cornelius P. Tucker, a 33-year-old Pittsburgh man, has been arrested and charged with over 200 counts of felony identity theft and related offenses for allegedly stealing the identities of hundreds of victims to make more than $100,000 in online purchases from Lowe's and Giant Eagle stores. Tucker allegedly placed online orders using stolen identities to buy items such as power tools and home security products, which he then resold at a discount on his Facebook page, "Pittsburgh Stamps." The scheme involved multiple counties including Allegheny, Beaver, Washington, Westmoreland, and Crawford. Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday highlighted the coordinated investigation by the Organized Retail Crime Unit that led to Tucker's arrest, which occurred on July 3. In addition to identity theft, Tucker faces charges including dealing in proceeds of illegal activity, involvement in a corrupt organization, retail theft, and criminal use of a communication facility. He is currently held in Allegheny County Jail on a $250,000 bail with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 14.
