QatarEnergy has announced a major expansion plan to establish a world-scale urea production complex, aiming to more than double its urea output from 6 million tons to 12.4 million tons annually by 2030. This initiative, presented by CEO Saad Al-Kaabi, involves building three ammonia production lines that will feed four new urea production trains at Mesaieed Industrial City. The move is positioned to enhance global food security amid rising urea demand due to significant population growth over the next few decades. Additionally, QatarEnergy plans to boost its liquefied natural gas (LNG) production by 85% and double its solar power capacity to 4,000 megawatts through a new solar project in Dukhan. The first new urea train is expected to commence production before the end of the decade, marking Qatar's ascent as the world's largest urea exporter. These developments are part of QatarEnergy's broader strategy to utilize existing infrastructure and meet future energy needs.
