Edgerunners 2 Announced With New Director, Story

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has been announced by CD Projekt RED and Studio Trigger, with Kai Ikarashi replacing Hiroyuki Imaishi as director and Bartosz Sztybor returning as showrunner. The 10-episode season, revealed at Anime Expo 2025, will be a standalone story set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe featuring new characters and focusing on darker themes of redemption and revenge. The creative team confirmed that David Martinez, the protagonist of season one, will not appear, marking a full narrative shift. Early visuals by Ichigo Kanno have been unveiled, and teaser footage has been shown to select attendees. The series will stream exclusively on Netflix, with the release date yet to be announced.
