Arsonist Sentenced for Devonshire Home Blaze Destroying Three Properties

Stacey Hinks, 34, was sentenced to four years and ten months in jail after deliberately setting fire to her ex-boyfriend's home on Springfield Grove in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, on May 15, 2025. The fire destroyed three properties, including the homes of two elderly neighbors, forcing them to be temporarily rehoused and causing devastating losses of sentimental items. Despite initially not believing Hinks' claim, her ex-partner lost all his possessions and has struggled daily with the stress caused by the fire. Neighbors acted bravely, alerting an 89-year-old woman who managed to escape safely, while other residents were not home at the time. Victim impact statements highlighted the profound mental, physical, financial, and emotional harm caused, with one elderly neighbor expressing that she would think about the incident for the rest of her life.
