UK Legal Tech Startup Definely Raises $30M Series B to Expand US AI Contract Solutions
Definely, a UK-based legal tech startup founded in 2017 by Nnamdi Emelifeonwu and Feargus MacDaeid, recently raised $30 million in a Series B funding round led by Revaia to expand its AI-powered tools that streamline legal drafting and contract review workflows. The company's suite includes features like Draft, Vault, Proof, and PDF, which help lawyers navigate complex contracts, insert clauses, check for inconsistencies, and analyze scanned documents efficiently. Definely also launched an agentic AI system called Enhance that integrates with Microsoft Word and coordinates multiple AI tools to assist with drafting, proofreading, and optimizing legal documents. With rapid growth and an expanding global presence, particularly in the US where it now accounts for 30% of revenue, Definely serves over 100 law firms and corporate legal teams, including Magic Circle firms and multinational corporations such as BT Group and Deloitte. The founders emphasize that the company's innovation originated from addressing accessibility challenges faced by MacDaeid, a registered blind lawyer, aiming to benefit the entire legal profession. The new funding will support further product development, international expansion, and advancing AI-driven legal workflows.
