Sam Vanderpump Facing End-Stage Liver Disease, Awaiting Transplant

Made in Chelsea star Sam Vanderpump, 28 and nephew of Lisa Vanderpump, has been diagnosed with irreversible end-stage liver disease and was warned he may have less than four to five years to live without a transplant. Doctors told him there is "no hope" his liver will recover and he has been referred for transplant assessment, but timing is uncertain because other patients are higher on the waiting list. The diagnosis followed a severe episode last December when dormant genetic conditions—congenital hepatic fibrosis and polycystic kidney disease—led to infection and sepsis that caused his liver and kidneys to fail and nearly cost him his life. Sam, who is engaged to Alice Yaxley and is expecting their first child, says he is trying to stay healthy while he waits for a transplant call and remains hopeful about coming through surgery. The NHS Organ Donation account highlighted his case on social media to urge people to sign up as organ donors, noting thousands are currently waiting for life-saving transplants.
