Multiple US Hockey Leagues Send 47 Players to 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase in Minneapolis
The 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase, set for July 25 to August 2 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, features 42 players invited by USA Hockey, including prospects from the Boston Bruins, Ontario Hockey League (OHL), United States Hockey League (USHL), and the University of North Dakota (UND). Bruins prospects James Hagens, Will Moore, Will Zellers, and Elliott Groenewold are among the invitees, with Hagens notably having helped the U.S. win gold at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship. The U.S. roster also includes four OHL players such as Erie Otters captain Carey Terrance and Chicago Blackhawks prospect AJ Spellacy, as well as 39 players with USHL ties, highlighting the league's significant role in developing talent for NCAA and NHL levels. UND contributes four players and a recruit to the roster, including defenseman E.J. Emery and forward Mac Swanson, with several players having NHL affiliations. The event serves as an evaluation camp for national team selections for the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, which will be hosted in Minnesota from December 26 to January 5. Teams from Canada, Finland, and Sweden will also participate in the showcase, which includes 11 total games among the nations.
