Mixed-Use Development with Costco Breaks Ground in LA

Groundbreaking for a mixed-use development featuring a Costco and 800 residential units in South Los Angeles is scheduled for Wednesday. The project, located at the intersection of La Brea Avenue and Coliseum Street in Baldwin Village, will offer 184 units for low-income households, with the rest being non-subsidized affordable and workforce housing. This development is the first under California's AB 2011 law, designed to streamline approvals for such projects. The new Costco will include fresh produce, healthy food options, optical services, a pharmacy, and delivery services. The development is expected to create numerous construction jobs and provide significant benefits to the local community, including job opportunities and cost savings for large families. City officials, including Mayor Karen Bass and Councilmember Heather Hutt, will attend the groundbreaking ceremony.
