West Nile Virus in Logan County

West Nile Virus has recently been detected in multiple locations across the U.S. and Israel, prompting health officials to urge residents to take precautions against mosquito bites. In Logan County, Illinois, positive mosquito samples were found, while San Bernardino County, California, reported its first positive mosquito collection this year. Mercer County, Pennsylvania, also confirmed a positive sample, and Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, has recorded one human case alongside numerous mosquito detections. The Environmental Protection Ministry in Israel reported infected mosquitoes in the Emek Hefer and Ramat Hasharon areas, with a total of 814 diagnosed cases nationwide. Health officials emphasize the importance of reducing standing water, using repellents, and wearing protective clothing to minimize exposure to mosquitoes. Public health authorities are increasing monitoring and pest control efforts to combat the spread of the virus.
