Dawn Staley, Pau Gasol Inducted to FIBA Hall of Fame

Dawn Staley, head coach of South Carolina women's basketball, was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame in Bahrain, joining her previous enshrinement in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. Staley's decorated career includes three Olympic gold medals, two FIBA World Cup titles as a player, and multiple gold medals as a coach for various USA Basketball teams, culminating in her becoming the first Black head coach of the U.S. Senior National Team. At the same ceremony, Spanish basketball legend Pau Gasol was also inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame, adding to his extensive list of accolades including two NBA championships, a 2006 FIBA World Championship MVP, and multiple Olympic and EuroBasket medals. Gasol, known as the all-time leading scorer for the Spanish national team, reflected on his career and honored his family, teammates, and the late Kobe Bryant during his induction speech.
