Multiple Iowa Cities Host Major Arts, Pride, Women’s Festivals June

Sioux City is hosting a variety of cultural events celebrating art, individuality, and community. The Sioux City Art Center opened an exhibition titled “A Certain Cadence of Night” by Iowa-born artist Duane Slick, featuring paintings, prints, and a collaborative video installation, with a public reception scheduled for June 12. The city also held its annual Pride Festival on Historic Fourth Street, which included a free meal, resource fair, arts and crafts, live music, and awards recognizing contributions to the LGBTQ community. Additionally, a new music and arts festival called “Always Going To Be Me” began on June 6 in downtown Sioux City, featuring live music, local art, and food vendors to celebrate individuality and resilience. Meanwhile, in Iowa City, the Iowa Arts Festival delighted attendees with pottery, live music, and activities like spin art, highlighting local artists and community engagement. The 2025 Iowa Women's Festival at Newbo City Market showcased women-led businesses, artists, and performers, offering handmade goods and live performances from regional musicians.
