TechFest Plans Global Student Essay Competition with Industry Partners
TechFest, a UK-based charity, is inviting students worldwide to participate in its annual essay competition, STEM NEXT, aimed at empowering young people to express their ideas across science, arts, and humanities. The competition offers students an independent challenge to enhance their research, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills, crucial for future academic and career success. Participants also have the unique opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals through interviews, gaining valuable insights into their chosen fields. The project is supported by partners including CNOOC International, Serica Energy, SSE Renewables, and Thistle Wind Partnership, and will run from June 16 to August 29. TechFest's National Programme Manager, Wendy Findlay, emphasized the competition's role in unlocking potential and providing role models for students interested in STEM careers. Additionally, Mike Seaton of SSE Renewables highlighted the importance of nurturing skilled talent early to address real-world challenges and promote sustainable energy solutions.
