Ireland Seeks Action on Citizens' German Deportations

Two Irish citizens, Shane O'Brien and Roberta Murray, are facing deportation from Germany after participating in pro-Palestinian protests in Berlin, despite having no criminal convictions. They, along with a Polish and a US citizen, have been accused of antisemitism and supporting terrorist organizations, specifically referencing Hamas. The deportation orders, initially refused by Berlin's immigration office, were reportedly enforced under political pressure. The Irish Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the situation and ready to provide assistance. Critics, including Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan, argue the deportations violate EU human rights. Demonstrations in solidarity with the affected individuals are planned in Berlin and Munich.
