Mysterious Fever Claims 15 Lives in Gujarat

A mysterious fever in Gujarat's Kutch district has claimed at least 15 lives, with health officials still unable to identify its cause. The fever, which first emerged between September 3 and 7, has symptoms resembling pneumonitis, but tests have ruled out known diseases such as H1N1 and dengue. In response to the outbreak, Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel has deployed 50 medical teams to the affected areas and is monitoring the situation closely. Samples from the deceased have been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune for analysis, with results expected soon. Heavy rainfall in the region, recording 184% of the average, may be linked to the spread of the illness. Health authorities are advising residents to seek medical attention promptly as investigations continue.
