Meta Unveils $299 Quest 3S, Discontinues Quest 2

Meta has unveiled the Quest 3S, a budget-friendly VR headset priced at $299, set to replace the Quest 2 and Quest Pro, which are being discontinued. The Quest 3S shares many features with the more expensive Quest 3, including the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor and 8GB of RAM, but uses Fresnel lenses and has a lower display resolution. The headset is available for pre-order and will start shipping on October 15. Meta also showcased a prototype of its advanced AR glasses, Orion, though no release date was provided. The company aims to make VR and AR technology more accessible, competing with high-end devices like Apple's Vision Pro. Additionally, Meta announced new AI features, including celebrity-voiced chatbots and AI-generated avatars.
