NYPD Shoots Dead Man Who Slashed Officer Outside Brooklyn Precinct

In Brooklyn, a man attempting to enter the 73rd Precinct stationhouse via a rear entrance early Sunday morning was stopped by a female NYPD officer, whom he then slashed in the face with a knife. The officer's injury was described as minor, and she was taken to a hospital for treatment. Several officers pursued the assailant, who continued to brandish his knife and charge at them near East New York Avenue and Amboy Street. Two officers fired their weapons, fatally shooting the man, who was pronounced dead upon arrival at Brookdale Hospital. The officers involved were also hospitalized and are listed in stable condition. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have yet to release the identity of the suspect.
