Coast Guard Seizes 388 Pounds of Cocaine

The U.S. Coast Guard recently seized approximately 388 pounds of cocaine, valued at an estimated $4.3 million, from a vessel intercepted in international waters near Puerto Rico. Two U.S. citizen smugglers were arrested and face federal charges, which could lead to sentences ranging from 10 years to life in prison. This operation was part of the Caribbean Corridor Strike Force, a multi-agency initiative aimed at combating drug trafficking. Concurrently, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intercepted a separate vessel, seizing over 1,321 pounds of cocaine worth $11.9 million, leading to the arrest of three Dominican Republic nationals. Both operations highlight the ongoing efforts of federal agencies to enhance border security and disrupt illegal narcotics trafficking in the Caribbean region.
