IDF Kills Hamas Naval Commando Involved in October 7 Attacks

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced the killing of Ahmad Osama Hassan Al-Lahwani, a Hamas naval commando who infiltrated Israel through the Kerem Shalom Crossing during the October 7, 2023, attacks. This operation was a coordinated effort involving the IDF's Southern Command, Israeli Air Force, Military Intelligence Directorate, Navy, and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet). The Israeli Navy continues to conduct both defensive and offensive maritime operations as part of Operation Gideon’s Chariots, in close cooperation with ground forces fighting Hamas in Gaza. The military highlighted the Navy's leadership role in targeting Hamas's naval capabilities. The IDF also shared footage of a recent engagement where a terrorist cell was swiftly neutralized after seriously wounding an Israeli soldier. These actions are part of an ongoing large-scale campaign against Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants in the Gaza Strip.
