Fifteen Killed in New Orleans Truck Attack

On New Year's Day, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old U.S. Army veteran, drove a truck into a crowd in New Orleans' French Quarter, resulting in at least 15 deaths and numerous injuries. The FBI is investigating the incident as a potential act of terrorism, noting that Jabbar had an Islamic State flag displayed on his vehicle. Among the victims were a former Princeton football player, Tiger Bech, an aspiring nurse, Ni’kyra Cheyenne Dedeaux, and a father of two, Reggie Hunter, highlighting the tragic loss of life in this horrifying attack. Jabbar, who had served in the military for 13 years, reportedly acted with an accomplice, who is still being sought by authorities. Families of the victims have begun fundraising efforts to cover funeral costs as the community mourns the senseless violence.
