High School Football Players Earn All-State Honors

Central Catholic and North Allegheny continue to dominate WPIAL football, with Central Catholic recently defeating North Allegheny to claim the Class 6A title and subsequently being recognized at the state level. Players from both teams earned spots on the 2024 Pa. Football Writers’ Class 6A all-state football team, including standout seniors like Duke recruit Bradley Gompers and Penn State-bound Xxavier Thomas. Meanwhile, Fort Cherry and Clairton showcased their talents in the Class A championship, with Fort Cherry's Matt Sieg receiving significant accolades for his performance this season, including being selected to the all-state team. Additionally, several athletes from the Lackawanna Football Conference are finalists for the Pennsylvania Player of the Year award, highlighting the growing recognition of players from District 2. The Mini Max Awards will celebrate outstanding high school football achievements on February 2, 2024, in Philadelphia. Kayden Holder, an 18-year-old from Texas, has also been selected for the 2025 Native American All-Star football game, illustrating the diversity of talent recognized across different football leagues.
