Bhajan Kaur Advances in Paris 2024 Archery
Indian archer Bhajan Kaur advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the women's individual archery event at the Paris 2024 Olympics after defeating Indonesia’s Syifa Nurafifah Kamal 7-3 and Poland’s Wioleta Myszor 6-0. Kaur initially trailed against Kamal but rallied to win by shooting multiple 10s in the decisive sets. In the Round of 32, Kaur dominated Myszor with consistent high scores. Meanwhile, Ankita Bhakat, who was the top-ranking Indian woman archer, was eliminated early by Myszor, despite initially leading in their match. Indian archer Dhiraj Bommadevara also advanced to the Round of 32 in the men's event but was narrowly defeated by Canada's Eric Peters in a shoot-off. Veterans Deepika Kumari and Tarundeep Rai will begin their campaigns soon.
