Ecclestone Fit, Stars In England v South Africa Semi
England and South Africa met in a Women's World Cup semi-final in Guwahati, with the winners set to face either India or Australia in the final. England arrived as favourites after earlier dismissing South Africa for 69 and chasing them down by 10 wickets at the same venue, and have shown greater resilience under captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and coach Charlotte Edwards. South Africa, seeking their first ODI final, remain vulnerable to quality spin, and both captains discussed tactics — Laura Wolvaardt said her side would like to bat first and added an extra batter, while Sciver-Brunt said England preferred to bowl first and chase under lights. Sophie Ecclestone, who had jarred her bowling shoulder diving to stop a boundary against New Zealand, was assessed and cleared to play and produced a superb spell in the semi that included two wickets in one over; Linsey Smith remained available as back-up.
