Sheikh Hasina's daughter

Saima Wazed, daughter of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, expressed her heartbreak over the ongoing crisis in Bangladesh, which has resulted in her mother's ouster and flight to India amid violent protests. Wazed, who serves as the Regional Director for South East Asia at the WHO, lamented the loss of life in her country and her inability to see her mother during this challenging time. Following Hasina's resignation on August 5 due to escalating protests against government policies, an interim government is being formed, with Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus appointed as its head. The political unrest has led to over 400 deaths, and images from the protests show demonstrators ransacking Hasina’s official residence. As the situation evolves, Bangladesh's President Mohammed Shahabuddin has dissolved Parliament to facilitate the transition to the new government. Yunus, who returns from Paris, has called for calm and urged all parties to avoid violence.
