Ayuso Wins Giro Stage 7, Roglič Takes Lead

Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) won stage 7 of the 2025 Giro d'Italia, claiming his first Grand Tour stage victory with a decisive attack on the final climb that distanced top contenders, including pre-race favorite Primož Roglič. The summit finish propelled Ayuso to second in the general classification, four seconds behind Roglič, who took the pink jersey from Mads Pedersen after a fourth-place finish. Ayuso's teammate Isaac del Toro finished second, with Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) taking third. The 168km stage from Castel di Sangro to Tagliacozzo saw a major reshuffling of the overall standings as Pedersen lost significant time. Several riders withdrew due to injuries from a previous crash. Ayuso is now considered a significant challenger to Roglič as the race heads further into the mountains.
