Justin Allgaier Replaces Kyle Larson for NASCAR All-Star Qualifying, Standby for Indy 500, Coca-Cola 600

Justin Allgaier will serve as the substitute driver for Kyle Larson in the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet during practice and qualifying for the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway, as Larson focuses on qualifying for the Indianapolis 500. Allgaier, the reigning NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, will also be on standby for both the All-Star Race and the Coca-Cola 600, supporting Larson's attempt to complete the challenging Indy 500/Coca-Cola 600 double. This arrangement mirrors last year's scenario when Allgaier started the Coca-Cola 600 in Larson's absence, finishing 13th in a rain-shortened race. Crew chief Cliff Daniels highlighted that Allgaier and Larson have similar physical builds, easing the transition between drivers, and noted Allgaier's prior experience with the Cup car at North Wilkesboro, including simulator sessions and wheel-force testing. While Larson will start the All-Star Race from the back due to missing qualifying, Allgaier's role is expected to ensure solid practice performance and valuable feedback on car setup.
