Steve Albini’s Estate Sells Archive Items Online
The estate of Steve Albini, the influential recording engineer and musician who died in May 2024 at age 61, has launched 'Steve Albini’s Closet,' an online archive sale offering thousands of his personal items such as rare vinyl, CDs, books, zines, shirts, posters, art, poker memorabilia, awards, and unique collectibles. New items are released weekly, with each authenticated by estate administrator Byron Coley, and the sale is expected to run through the end of 2025. Proceeds benefit Albini's estate, and early offerings featuring records by Can, Elvis Costello, and Buzzcocks have already sold out. Albini was renowned for engineering landmark albums by Nirvana, Pixies, and PJ Harvey, and played in bands including Shellac and Big Black. His legacy is being honored with tributes and a Chicago street named after him. The sale invites fans and collectors to own pieces of Albini's diverse archives, celebrating his lasting contributions to music.
