Fallen Chicago Officer Krystal Rivera Added to Police Memorial Wall

Chicago Police Officer Krystal Rivera, who was tragically shot and killed by her partner during a foot chase in the Chatham neighborhood in June, was honored with her name being added to the Chicago Police Officers Memorial at the Gold Star Families Memorial and Park. Rivera's name is now the 607th displayed on the memorial, which commemorates officers who have died in the line of duty. At the ceremony, Rivera's mother and daughter shared heartfelt remarks about her legacy of courage, integrity, and love, with her daughter expressing gratitude for their close bond. The officer responsible for the shooting has been relieved of his police powers amid a separate assault investigation. A candlelight vigil was held later that evening where the names of all fallen officers, including Rivera’s, were read aloud. Rivera served for four years and was assigned to the Gresham District, leaving behind a legacy cherished by her family and colleagues.
