HBO Orders Green Lantern Series 'Lanterns' to Launch Next Summer

DC Studios' new series 'Lanterns' has received an eight-episode order from HBO, marking the first live-action Green Lantern series. The show will follow Hal Jordan and John Stewart, members of the Green Lantern Corps, as they investigate a dark mystery involving a murder in America's heartland. The series is being developed by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, with James Gunn and Peter Safran overseeing as co-CEOs of DC Studios. 'Lanterns' will be a key part of the unified DC Universe launching next summer and will initially air on HBO before moving to the Max streaming service. This adaptation aims to bring a fresh take on the iconic Green Lantern characters, who haven't appeared in live-action since the 2011 film starring Ryan Reynolds.
