Toronto Pearson Hosts Third Annual Autism-Friendly Airport Tour for 200 Participants
Toronto Pearson International Airport, in collaboration with Autism Ontario and Air Transat, hosted the third annual "Ready, Set, Fly…with YYZ," an immersive airport familiarization event designed to support approximately 200 individuals with autism and other neurodivergent conditions. The program helps participants practice all steps of the travel process, including check-in, security screening, boarding, and customs, aiming to reduce travel anxiety and build confidence through routine and predictability. Airport officials emphasized their commitment to making air travel more inclusive by learning from passenger experiences and reducing barriers. Autism Ontario highlighted the importance of preparation to manage the unpredictability of airports and flights, thereby making travel more accessible for neurodivergent travelers. Air Transat noted the event's growth as a testament to its meaningful impact on neurodivergent individuals and their families. Additionally, Toronto Pearson has expanded its accessibility initiatives with programs like the Travel Rehearsal Program to further ease travel stress for these communities.
