K-9, Suspect Killed in McKinney Police Standoff
A police K-9 named Azi was killed during a standoff at a McKinney motel on March 13, following a shooting incident that left a 52-year-old woman injured. Officers responded to the motel where the woman was found shot and in stable condition. The suspect barricaded himself in a room and threatened to shoot officers during negotiations. When police deployed the K-9, the suspect emerged with a firearm, resulting in an exchange of gunfire that killed him and fatally injured the K-9. The Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation, and authorities stated there is no ongoing threat to the public. A procession was held to honor K-9 Azi after the incident.
