Adani Power Restores Full Supply to Bangladesh Amid Ongoing Disputes

Adani Power has agreed to fully restore its 1,600 MW electricity supply to Bangladesh after a three-month reduction caused by payment disputes amid Bangladesh's foreign exchange issues. The company had previously halved its supply on October 31 due to delayed payments, leading to a shutdown of one unit. While full supply is set to resume soon, Adani has rejected Bangladesh's requests for discounts and tax benefits, which could amount to millions of dollars. Ongoing discussions aim to resolve financial disagreements, with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Chairperson Md. Rezaul Karim indicating that there are no major issues remaining. Despite these negotiations, BPDB has not yet cleared outstanding dues of approximately $650 to $900 million. Adani Power emphasized that power dispatch is contingent on the requirements of the procurer, reflecting the complexities of international energy agreements.
