UK, Ireland, New Orleans Experience Widespread Heatwaves, Showers
The UK is expected to experience a resurgence of high temperatures, with forecasts indicating another heatwave where temperatures may reach up to 34°C, especially impacting the south and Midlands between late June and early July. While the UK recently experienced highs of 29°C, the Met Office predicts brief, intense bursts of hot air coming from the continent, despite occasional showers and windy conditions in the northwest. The weekend will see improving weather with highs reaching 29°C, including sunny spells during the Glastonbury Festival, although some thundery showers are forecast midweek. In contrast, Ireland will experience milder weather with highs around 21°C, accompanied by patchy rain, drizzle, and generally unsettled conditions through the week. Elsewhere, very hot conditions with temperatures between 32 to 34°C and strong northeast winds are forecast, while in New Orleans, high humidity and temperatures in the 90s with isolated storms are expected, though no heat advisory is currently in effect.
