Former Galveston Officer Indicted for Assault

Former Galveston police officer Jared Rivas has been indicted on eight charges, including two counts of injury to a child, one count of unlawful restraint of a child, one count of official oppression, and four counts of assault causing bodily injury, following an incident at a pool party on June 25. Rivas, who was working off-duty as a security guard at the Island Bay Resort apartment complex, was caught on video assaulting a teenager and others.
