Czech Man Arrested for Destroying Ai Weiwei Sculpture
A sculpture by renowned Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was deliberately destroyed by a 57-year-old Czech man, Vaclav Pisvejc, during the opening of Ai's exhibition at Palazzo Fava in Bologna, Italy. The incident, captured on CCTV and shared on Ai's Instagram, shows Pisvejc pushing over and breaking the 'Porcelain Cube,' a large porcelain artwork weighing nearly 100 kilos. Pisvejc, known for previous acts of vandalism in the art world, was arrested by local police. Ai Weiwei expressed his astonishment and concern for safety, while curator Arturo Galansino lamented the disruption. Despite the incident, the exhibition 'Who am I?' opened as scheduled, with a life-size print of the destroyed sculpture replacing the original piece.
