Broncos head coach Sean Payton noted that having a rookie captain is unusual and emphasizes that Nix earned this role through his conduct and performance. Nix's impressive preseason, including a 23-for-30 passing record, secured him the starting quarterback position for the season opener against the Seahawks. Alongside Nix, the Broncos have five other captains: Courtland Sutton, Patrick Surtain II, Alex Singleton, Quinn Meinerz, and Wil Lutz. The Broncos are optimistic about Nix's debut as they head into the new season.
