Dale Lockwood, a father from West Yorkshire, was devastated to find his 31-year-old wife Ruby dead in their bed after returning home from work on October 10, 2023. Despite appearing healthy and showing no symptoms, a post-mortem examination initially left the cause of her death inconclusive. Further testing revealed that Ruby had succumbed to sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (Sads), a rare genetic heart condition that can cause sudden cardiac arrest. The hereditary nature of Sads raises concerns for their young children, Arthur and Winifred, whom Dale fears may carry the gene. In his grief, Dale is now advocating for increased awareness and research into Sads, raising over £17,000 for the British Heart Foundation through charity events. He shared that telling his children about their mother's death has been the hardest experience of his life, highlighting the unexpected nature of Ruby's passing.
