The inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic javelin throw event, scheduled for May 24 in Bengaluru, has been postponed indefinitely due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Organizers, including Neeraj Chopra and JSW Sports, emphasized that the decision prioritizes the safety and well-being of athletes, stakeholders, and the broader community amid ongoing cross-border conflict. The event was expected to feature elite international competitors such as Anderson Peters, Thomas Rohler, and Julius Yego. Chopra expressed solidarity with national interests and withdrew invitations to Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem following a terrorist attack that heightened hostilities. This postponement follows similar actions like the suspension of the Indian Premier League by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, reflecting widespread concerns over security during this period. A revised schedule for the NC Classic will be announced once the situation stabilizes.
