Plymouth-Canton Ballet Trailer Stolen Ahead of Performance

The Plymouth-Canton Ballet Company in Michigan is in distress after a thief stole a trailer containing vital props for their upcoming 40th anniversary performance of 'The Nutcracker'. The theft occurred around 3:30 a.m. on a Sunday, with video evidence showing a white pickup truck driving away with the 24-foot trailer filled with large, essential items including a grandfather clock and an extendable Christmas tree. Artistic director June Smith emphasized the importance of these props, stating they are crucial for bringing the ballet to life. In response, the company has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for replacements and is urging community members to report any sightings of the stolen trailer or props. Despite the setback, the dancers remain committed to delivering a memorable performance, with over 80 students from 20 local studios involved. The community, which has supported the company for four decades, is expected to rally together to help overcome this challenge.
