Penn State Wrestlers Excel at 2025 U.S. Open Championships
At the 2025 U.S. Open Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas, Penn State athletes delivered standout performances, with three claiming senior division titles and two winning in the U20 category. Mitchell Mesenbrink dominated the 74 kg senior freestyle, earning Most Exciting Wrestler honors, while freshman Luke Lilledahl won the 57 kg title with a technical fall in the final. Kyle Snyder, representing the Penn State RTC, secured the 97 kg title with four consecutive technical falls. Kyle Dake advanced to the 86 kg final but finished as runner-up after a loss to Zahid Valencia. Twin freshmen Connor and Cole Mirasola each won U20 titles at 92 kg and 125 kg, respectively, further highlighting Penn State's depth. Assistant coach Casey Cunningham was also recognized as USA Wrestling Freestyle Coach of the Year.
