KFC relocates headquarters from Kentucky to Texas

Yum! Brands has announced that it will relocate the KFC corporate headquarters from Louisville, Kentucky, to Plano, Texas, affecting approximately 100 employees. This move marks a significant shift for the iconic fast food chain, which has been rooted in Kentucky since its founding by Colonel Harland Sanders in 1930. The decision has drawn disappointment from Kentucky officials, including Governor Andy Beshear, who expressed concern over losing a brand synonymous with the state’s heritage. Yum! Brands aims to consolidate its operations by pairing KFC with Pizza Hut in Texas, while Taco Bell and Habit Burger & Grill will remain headquartered in Irvine, California. To commemorate its Kentucky roots, the company will contribute $1 million to the University of Louisville for business scholarships. Despite the relocation, Yum! Brands will maintain some offices in Louisville, ensuring a continued presence in the state.
