The University of Idaho will hold a dedication ceremony for the Vandal Healing Garden and Memorial on August 21, at 4:30 p.m., honoring the memories of four students murdered in November 2022—Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. Designed and built by students from the College of Art and Architecture, the garden serves as a place of healing and reflection for all students who have died while enrolled at the university. Dean of Students Blaine Eckles emphasized the project as a testament to the dedication and resilience of the student body, showcasing their care for the community and its lost members. The garden will feature a memorial sculpture specifically for the four victims, along with walking paths and a sheltered sitting area. Funded through donations, the garden is located on MacLean Field, and contributions are still being accepted to support the initiative. The dedication ceremony is open to the public, marking an important moment of remembrance for the university community.
